The Villa Erofili is a very comfortable holiday home for up to 8 persons in ▶ Asteri nearby Rethymnon.

It includes 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (one of them with a whirlpool), a living area with an open fireplace, and a garden with swimming pool and barbecue area.

A satellite TV set and Internet access (ADSL WiFi) are also available. All bedrooms are air conditioned.

The kitchen includes an electric hob with an integrated oven, an integrated refrigerator and freezer, and a dishwasher.

Asteri is a small, peaceful traditional Greek village above the bay of ▶ Rethymnon on the island of ▶ Crete. There is a kafenion, a large taverna and a mini market.

Both the Old and the New National Road from Rethymnon to Heraklion run 2 kms north, passing the bigger village of ▶ Stavromenos. There is an hourly public bus service in both directions, and during the tourism season local busses go to the town even every 20 minutes.

One big and some medium size hotels are between the New National Road and the beach, and during the tourism season a variety of shops and restaurants are open.

Villa Erofili is in peaceful surroundings by the village border of ▶ Asteri on the flank of a gently sloping hill.

Views range over the neighbouring olive groves northwards to the coast and the Aegean Sea, and south-eastwards to the Ida Mountains.

The surroundings are very peaceful and suit well for hikes to the neighbouring villages.

The nearest bus stops are 2 kms north at ▶ Stavromenos, and 1 km south at Loutra.

A rental car is therefore advisable. We recommend the car rental agency ▶ Eurocars Crete, which is said to be very reliable, and also serves the two airports.

In Stavromenos there are also 3 supermarkets, a pharmacy, a very popular restaurant and many other shops. All of them are open all-year.

▶ Heraklion airport is 79 kms away, ▶ Chania airport 85 kms. With respect to the National Road's winding character, transfer durations from and to the airports must not be underestimated.

The holiday villa is built from natural stone, and the property is framed by walls from natural stone as well, partly with wooden fences on it.

On two floors, the house includes 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.

In front of the living room there is a breakfast terrace with a pergola, a garden table and chairs. It borders to the large main terrace that frames the 41 sqm swimming pool.

There is a hydromassages facility and a shallow section for children, and sunbeds (deck chairs) and umbrellas are available.

The main terrace enjoys views of the Aegean Sea, and so do the balconies on the top floor.

The walls that frame the property are decorated with sunk-in lamps and terracotta amphoras. Behind the house there is another terrace with a stone-built roofed and wind protected barbecue facility.

Furthermore there is a 30 sqm roof terrace which enjoys views of the sea, of the Ida Mountains, and of the port and the town of ▶ Rethymnon.

The air conditioned living area is on the villa's ground floor. It has a satellite color TV set and an open fireplace.

The open-plan kitchen borders to the living area. It has its own separate balcony.

On the ground floor there is also an air conditioned bedroom with 2 single beds, and a shower bathroom with WC.

On the building's top floor there are three bedrooms, each of them with its own air conditioning unit, and with balconies that enjoy views of the sea or of the mountains.

In the master bedroom there is a double bed and it has its own bathroom with a hydromassages tub and WC.

The other two bedrooms on the top floor have 2 single beds each. Upstairs there is also another big bathroom with a bath tub, and it also includes the washing machine.

A safe deposit box, iron and board and a hairdryer belong to the villa's equipment as well. A baby cot will be provided on request.

The air conditioning units can be switched to heating mode during chilly springtime or autumn nights.

Room cleaning as well as change of sheets and towels twice per week.

There is also a coffee maker, a sandwich toaster and a dining table with chairs.

In the village center there is the very popular taverna To Spiti tou Poliou which also serves as a folklore museum. Another popular taverna is in the neighbouring village of Hamalevri.

The 3 supermarkets in the village of ▶ Stavromenos on the coast (2 kms) are open all-year, and so is the very popular restaurant ▶ Kechagias which is close to the western village border of Stavromenos.

The nearest LIDL market with a rich choice of budget imported foodstuffs is located in the village of Tsesmes by the National Road (8 kms).

On the more than 15 kms long sandy beach that lines the bay of ▶ Rethymnon there are plenty of sports and watersports on offer.

This includes volleyball, windsurfing, water skiing, paragliding, sailing, wetbikes, jet skiing, pedaloes and much more.

Bars, discotheques and a colourful nightlife can be found along the bay es well, and all-year in the picturesque Venetian old town of Rethymnon.

As the villa is not too far away from the nearest entrance to the New National Road, from here the whole West of the island of ▶ Crete reveals itself for exploration.
